OCD must reinstall windows once a month
Published on March 24, 2005 By SpongebobNopants In Personal Computing
It's been good for me, almost 2 months without getting itchy fingers, but dammit I will, nay must reinstall. I just can't help it, I feel the need and the urge must be obeyed. This time I will install the nice new Linux iso I downloaded yesterday. and maybe that 64 bit version of XP too. Not that I've got the faintest idea of why or how, I just will. And then I will be happy again, for about a month.

It's withdrawal, like a drug, I was the same way. I formated, installed, formated, installed. You get the picture. IT'S A DRUG. I gave my Mother a computer, now all she does is sit in front of it trying things out. IT IS A DRUG. It took me, honestly, 3 years to get over doing that. If it worked fine,I screwed it up just to format and fix it. You are not fixing it. YOU ARE GETTING A FIX. Peace.Good luck. Hippie

It's the thought of all those proggies you install, try out, then uninstall leaving their little bits here and there. It just works on your nerves. After a while....boom major backup, then 2 days worth of installation followed by at least a week of customization......... and then you always find those little bits of data you didn't backup but should've. Yeah, it's a mental defect...but I'm much better now.

Lmao. I know the feeling. I also tend to just do everything for no excuse other than I get bored. Never takes me more than maybe 1 1/2 days to get everything caught back up tho. And I've gotten so practiced at it that I rarly lose anything important. Lmao, It never really goes away... Just gets easier to resist.

Well I think the urge to do so wears off after a few years.. LOL
The last thing I ever want to do now is reinstall from scratch; I'll spend many hours repairing things before I get to that point..

The thought of reinstalling and reconfiguring all my programs as well as all the windows updates you have to do (like 7 restarts involved) keeps me from reinstalling however much i may want to.

LoL..Anybody that actually "Enjoys" reinstalling *is a suitable case for treatment. I admit, the first few times it may be slightly interesting..but sheeesh, after you get over that, how much more boring can it get??? I actually see it as a pain in the rear that I like to avoid at all costs!!
May not seem like it, since I seem to be always here on these boards at WC, but I *do have better things to do with my time other than reinstalling Windows and everything that goes with it!! LoL..doing that is SUCH a boring chore..LoL

Zero.

I've got a boot partition and several 'other' partitions. If I reformat and reinstall, then make an image of my boot partition, as long as nothing changes on the 'other' partitions, I should just be able to format the boot partition and do an image install to get back to square one. Is my thinking in this correct? Seems like that would not take too long after the first time.
